Crop Shear Operator

Immediate need of:

Crop Shear Operator

Responsible for the set up and operation of a rocking type shear utilized to process Master Plates per specification determined by the Rolling Orders

General Housekeeping of work area and Finishing Department

Follows directives from Finishing Department Manager and Lead Person

Assist co-workers as needed or required

Communicates to Lead Person, and or Plate Mill any issues with product, equipment, or delays

Able to direct and assist in the changing of knives, set up the Crop Shear

Safely operates the Crop Shear and associate equipment. Visually inspect machinery and associated systems for operational capability. Inspects all controls and switches

Communicates to the Crop Shear Scrap Shear Operator when scrap jams occur in the conveyor system

Identifies and positions test panels into shear, cuts at layout marks accurately

Monitors scrap buckets and informs Crane Operator when needing emptied

Able to accurately position Master Plates at crop layout marks and squares up with pushers

Studies, understands, and follows associated Work Instructions, Quality SOP’s and LOTO procedures

Burns scrap/test panels as needed

Understands when Master Plates are “tight” on scrap, deviates from the norm to prevent loss of material, and communicates to Rotary/DSS operator of issue with material

Knowledge of Shearing equipment and area functions

Understands how to read the Rolling Order. Identification, cut, and layout of the Test Panels

Job Locations: Baytown, TX

Starts: 2/20/2021

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Per Diem: $65/day

Travel: $150 in/out

Duration: 3 weeks
