Maintenance Project
Minimum of four (4) years Industry related experience with minimum of one (1) year as a Painter in refinery, chemical, petrochemical, or similar plant construction or maintenance, performing the work described herein. Must be able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; make decisions based on measured criteria; read and understand drawings and specifications; visualize objects in three dimensions from flat drawings; read and understand safety instructions, signs and labels; be able to follow instructions, both verbally and written; and pass a craft specific test.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Smooths surfaces using sandpaper, brushes or steel wool and removes old paint from surfaces using paint remover, scraper, wire brush or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting.
Fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty plaster or other filler.
Selects premixed paints or mixes required portions of pigment, oil and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
Paints surfaces using brushes or rollers.
Simulates wood grain, marble, brick or tile effects.
Erects scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks above ground.
May also handle wallpaper and fabrics.
