Instrument & Controls Planner

Summary

Per Sé Group is hiring an Instrument Planner for a long-term contract at our client’s petroleum refinery in the SW suburbs of Chicago, IL.  This refinery is a strategic supplier of transportation fuels in the upper Midwest and has a total crude oil capacity of 177,000 barrels per day and manufactures several grades of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and high-quality hydrocarbon solvents used in the production of paints, adhesives, and coatings.  This refinery is committed to safety and environmental stewardship and is an industry leader who continues to be recognized year after year with numerous safety awards.   Anticipated duration:  9 mos +  Pay:  $58/hour  Per diem:  $100/day  MOB/DEMOB:  IRS rate mileage

Responsibilities

• Produce quality Electrical and Instrumentation work packs in support of the turnaround function, identifying the tasks and labor required to execute the work safely and efficiently, as well as all associated materials and equipment
• Develop and update turnaround job plans and preventive maintenance instructions (PMs), coordinating with procurement and ensuring the availability of required materials, tools and equipment
• During turnaround events, support field personnel and turnaround management organization through field supervision, information sharing and logistics coordination
• Close coordination with maintenance personnel, as well as with the Production, Technology Services, Supply Chain Management and EH&S departments
• Manage I/E turnaround work orders, from the moment work is identified until it can be handed over to appropriate individuals, internal or external, for execution
• Provide project management of other system planners or contractors to develop detailed elements of overall package preparation

Desired skills and expertise

• 3+ years of refinery planning experience, including maintenance and turnarounds
• Previous field experience as an Instrumentation & Controls Technician in a refinery, including performing walkdowns
• SAP/Maximo Planning experience
• MS Office experience, including development of spreadsheets to track and chart information pertaining to maintenance
• Experience in creating and modifying P&I diagrams, loop sheets, single lines, logics and electrical schematics
• Experience in developing scopes of work, task analysis, material list and project schedules with SAP
• Experience with alky units
