Schmueser & Associates, LLC is looking for its next highly skilled and qualified project safety representative to join our Safety Team. Schmueser & Associates was founded in 1980, our focus is as a merit shop with an emphasis in heavy civil construction and as an industrial general contractor. We provide new construction, plant maintenance and turnaround services to a diverse range of industries that include Mining, Oil &Gas, Power Generation, Manufacturing, Communications, and Public Infrastructure.
Project Safety Representative
As a Project Safety Representative, you will oversee the safety of all workers, visitors, and equipment on the project sites. You will report directly to the Safety Director, and will work closely with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to implement and monitor safety policies and procedures, conduct training, risk assessments and inspections, investigate accidents and incidents, and promote a positive safety culture. You will also represent Schmueser & Associates, LLC. in a professional manner and uphold its safety standards and values.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
· Provide safety support for projects along the Colorado I-25 and I-70 corridors including Cripple Creek with occasional support for projects in Nevada.
· Ensure compliance with Schmueser & Associates safety program, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
· Be familiar with both OSHA and MSHA environments.
· Ability to take affirmative action in situations that pose an imminent danger to any personnel.
· Report all incidents, compliance issues, OSHA and MSHA inspections and results, and other relevant information.
· Support the Project Leadership team in documenting and reporting incidents to clients, Schmueser & Associates management, workman’s compensation providers, and regulatory agencies.
· Participate in Schmueser & Associates, LLC.'s safety training program, and provide safety training and guidance to other employees and supervisors as needed.
· Communicate safety concerns and recommendations to the field supervision and conduct safety meetings.
· Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences, review and or prepare incident reports and review root causes with the Project Leadership team.
· Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Identify and eliminate or minimize safety hazards employees may be exposed to.
· Review and approve project specific safety plans, policies, and procedures of subcontractors.
· Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
· Develop and implement site specific emergency response plans and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
· 5 years industrial construction experience
· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
· Ability and willingness to travel
· Comprehensive knowledge of MSHA Part 48 and 56 regulations
· Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 regulations
· Strong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to effectively communicate
· Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision
· Ability to meet physical demands including ability to work in various positions, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, work at heights, and work in various environmental conditions including at high elevations.
Preferred Qualifications
· OSHA 30 Hour Construction training
· OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer
· MSHA Part 48 Approved Instructor (Blue Card)
Compensation and Benefits:
· $29 - $36hr (DOE) plus per diem
