Looking for Advanced Shipfitters! - Newport News, VA

• Minimum 4 years commercial/naval experience as First Class Shipfitter:
• Multi-pass Tack Welding
• Burning-oxygen/propane burning torch
• Comprehend complex structural assembly drawings, blueprint, and sketches
• Understanding of fractional dimensions with the use of rulers
• Layoff piece parts for fabrications and assembly
• Assemble structural piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner
• Use of Molded Lines and Ship Reference Lines to execute work
• Be able to use vibratory tools, grinders and needle guns
• Ability to erect, set and makeup complex shaped shell plates, decks, bulkheads, longitudinal trunks
• Install and replace hull inserts and penetrations
• Must be able to climb up/down vertical ladder, bend, squat, kneel, work in confined spaces and around moving equipment
• Additional/Optional skills: rigger/material handling, optical instrumental experience, tank testing, shipwright/erect and set experience, and mobile equipment operation

Pay starting at $45.00/ hour
