The Tank Superintendent helps the Operations Manager oversee field crews and equipment. You'll interact with Matrix personnel, QA/QC, and customers. Plus, you'll mentor and coach field personnel.
This posting is for multiple field supervision roles at project sites. You'll need to travel to various locations across states like FL, VA, GA, NC, and TX throughout the year.
To succeed, you MUST HAVE experience with Aboveground Storage Tanks and Specialty Vessels, especially New Tanks, Cryogenic Tanks, and Spheres.
Essential Functions
- Actively support the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values.
- Represent the Company with high moral standards and adhere to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
- Perform system verification on completed systems to ensure correct installation per design specifications.
- Assist construction management in pre-job planning and scheduling.
- Promote and support the Company’s safety programs while maintaining a positive safety culture.
- Help develop and review construction procedures to meet the Company's needs.
- Supervise general foremen and skilled welders for construction activities.
- Act as a liaison between field engineering and skilled craft to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Deliver training to skilled craft, ensuring procedural compliance and operational efficiency.
- Conduct daily coordination meetings with subordinates, craft, and subcontractors to ensure priorities are clear.
- Assist in planning work schedules, labor levels, material quantities, and equipment needs.
- Monitor work performance and productivity to ensure project rules and safety requirements are met.
- Advise project and construction management of potential problems and help resolve them.
- Ensure all company policies and standards are followed and interpret them as needed.
- Perform general administrative tasks and record-keeping as assigned.
- Review NDE reports to ensure all code and customer requirements are met.
- Take on additional responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in a Site Supervisory role is required.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent understanding of Aboveground Storage Tanks and Specialty Vessels, especially New Tanks, Cryogenic Tanks, and Spheres.
- Experience running a crew is required.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of API standards is preferred.
- Ability to travel to multiple project sites throughout the year is required.
