Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled DC Power Specialist to lead telecom power installation projects across customer sites. This role combines hands-on expertise in DC power systems with leadership responsibilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant power solutions for central offices, mobile switching centers (MSC), data centers, and cell sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of DC power systems, including rectifiers, inverters, converters, BDFBs, and battery plants (-48V systems).

Run and terminate DC cabling to telecom racks, servers, and network equipment; install fuse panels, perform load balancing, and ensure proper grounding/bonding.

Troubleshoot, test, and calibrate DC equipment; resolve system issues such as voltage drops, alarms, or battery failures.

Supervise field installation teams and subcontractors, ensuring project delivery on time, on budget, and in compliance with safety standards.

Develop and implement site-specific Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for live work and hot transitions in operational environments.

Coordinate materials, scheduling, documentation, and status reporting.

Mentor and train technicians, promoting continuous improvement in technical skills and safety practices.

Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, Telcordia standards (GR-1275, GR-63, GR-1089), and company safety policies.

Maintain strong customer relationships and provide timely communication and issue resolution.

Qualifications:

5+ years of telecom/DC power installation or service experience, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.

Strong expertise in DC power systems, UPS, and telecom plant power distribution.

Proficient in interpreting telecom blueprints, wiring diagrams, and load schedules.

Skilled with test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes, battery testers).

Experience managing subcontractors and field crews while balancing technical and administrative tasks.

Telcordia GR-1275 Level 4 Installer or equivalent preferred.

CDL license preferred (not required).

Work Environment:

Customer premises: COs, MSCs, data centers, cell sites.

Indoor/outdoor work with ladder climbing and occasional heavy lifting.

Travel up to 25%.
