Position Summary
A Paint Superintendent is (often) responsible for all facets of a project (where the Project Manager is not assigned full-time to the site). In such, directing any General Foremen and/or Foremen in the safe execution of the site specific scope of work items outlined in the contract documents. A Superintendent is also responsible for work assignments of all General Foremen they supervise within their craft(s). Monitor work progress to assure timely completion to meet schedules and budgets. Requirements include strong organizational and interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and high level of safety awareness as demonstrated by performance of completed projects.
Essential Function
1. Read prints, specifications and both written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties and responsibilities as listed below.
2. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.
3. Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb.
4. Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time inside confined spaces, often with breathing equipment required.
5. Comply with all Apache and client safety policies and programs.
6. Maintain a reliable attendance records
7. Always maintains a clean and safe work environment
8. Able to wear all required PPE
9. Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
· Minimum 6 years of coating and linings experience
· Minimum 1- 2 years of experience with Apache.
· Knowledge and experience in sophisticated industrial painting and sandblasting techniques.
· Demonstrate a broad knowledge of craft(s) utilized on projects they oversee
· Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a motor vehicle in a safe manner while carefully observing all traffic regulations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ensure that all Apache personnel are working in a safe manner and environment. Also verify fulfillment of all requirements outlined in the Apache Safety Manual, site specific requirements, and customer specific requirements.
· In conjunction with assigned Apache personnel, initiate and manage the daily tailgate safety meeting and JHA.
· Ensure that General Foremen and Foremen understand the scope of work and bring to their attention any potential problems and issues. Communication with the Project Manager should continue on a daily basis.
· Ensure that all Apache and customer specifications, guidelines, and programs are being followed and documented as required.
· Ensure that work is being performed efficiently with regard to manpower, equipment, tools and consumables.
· Complete all general site paperwork including timesheets, T&M sheets, and purchase orders.
· Responsible for onsite customer relations.
· Attend job walks and bid meetings as requested by Apache management and provide documentation necessary to provide pricing information.
· Responsible for the training of Paint General Foreman. A Paint Superintendent are expected to train prospective employees to become productive members of the crew and prepare them to become a Paint Superintendent.
· Ensure that all painting work meets industry standards and client expectations in terms of craftsmanship, finish, and overall quality
· Ensuring good housekeeping is being performed throughout the entire project - inside & outside.
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
· Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
· Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
· No adverse environmental conditions expected.
· Must be able to work in high noise volumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, dusty conditions, hazardous machinery, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
