Job Description

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Description

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing mechanical systems including piping, valves, pumps, processes, tanks, equipment, skids or other equipment. They will prepare, review, and stamp engineering deliverables. They will understand and adhere to all applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

General:

  • Analysis, design and documentation of mechanical systems and piping for various materials, such as carbon steel, stainless steel and HDPE piping per ASME B31.3 and other pertinent codes and standards.
  • ASME vessel and piping code familiarity. Prefer some experience in sizing and design of ASME pressure vessels.
  • Determine governing codes and standards and ensure compliance of the design.
  • Review and development of piping specifications.
  • Develop data sheets for control valves, heat exchangers, tanks, pumps, pressure vessels and other specialty equipment.
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus, 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and the Plant 3D toolset.
  • Perform pipe stress analysis via analytical methods or FEA programs per applicable codes.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s).
  • Develop engineering lists of all equipment, lines, valves, instruments, and special items.
  • Contribute to the development of company design and engineering standards.
  • Pump and fan design and application knowledge.
  • Experience with the industrial and/or oil & gas EPC process.
  • Collaborate in the development of project construction specifications.
  • Conducts design development and project site details in conjunction with the Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Designers, Construction Crew and other engineering subcontractors.
  • Responsible for coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on schedule.
  • Self-motivated, Self-Directed, ‘Get-it-Done’ attitude.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Technical Abilities

  • Design Software
    • Efficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D Toolset, and Bentlery AutoPIPE or CEASAR.
  • Microsoft Office
    • Have ability to generate Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations that align with company standards.
    • Excel abilities should include knowledge and experience with the solver add-in.
    • VBA programming experience for Excel is a plus.
  • Specifications and Drawings
    • Able to read and understand standard specifications and drawings

      Experience

      • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering.
      • Professional Engineering Licensure is required. Multi-state licensure encouraged.
      • 5+ years mechanical engineering experience.
      • Computer knowledge Microsoft Office, Excel (Solve add-in), (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Bentley AutoPIPE or CEASAR).
      • Previous experience within an engineering group. Construction and field assignments are valuable.
      • Communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work both independently and within a team structure is a must.
      • An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our company culture is a must.
      • Can drive projects to conclusion without a lot of management oversight.
      • Able to engage in all aspects of the mechanical design and construction process.
      • Nurturing relationships with office/administration, designers, procurement, engineering and construction personnel.

Hours

This position is a full-time salaried position. The schedule can vary based on the project requirements (typically no more than 50 hours/week).

Travel

Travel as needed.

$125k to 150k annually
