Job Description

Coker Cran Mechanic

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and interpret the functions of major system components for P&H overhead cranes, including hoists, trolleys, bridges, and control systems
  • Use electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams to analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot system issues
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair AC/DC motors, gearboxes, brakes, and drive systems; identify and correct motor-related problems
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust hoist and trolley control systems, including limit switches, relays, contactors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on crane systems to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Conduct functional testing of critical components and systems to verify operational performance and safety compliance
  • Perform resistance, voltage, and continuity checks using appropriate testing equipment
  • Inspect and maintain wiring, festoon systems, pendant controls, and radio control systems
  • Identify potential safety hazards and ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, site procedures, and OSHA regulations
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspection results accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety personnel to support ongoing crane reliability and uptime

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements (optional but recommended to include):

  • Experience working on overhead cranes (P&H preferred) in an industrial or refinery setting
  • Strong understanding of electrical troubleshooting and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding environments
