Inside Machinist (Large Equipment Operator)

Pay: $37.50/Hour
Per-Diem: $120.00/Day
Location: Newport News, VA
Job Duration: 2-Years

Job Description:
Operation of manual and/or NC machines such as lathes, mills, horizontal & vertical machining centers,
EDMs, etc. to fabricate parts utilized for ship and submarine building.
Experience:
Must have experience on:
1) Horizontal Boring Mills HBMs will have travel that are in the range of X 500 inches, Y 250 inches, Z 50
inches and W 65 inches they will also have turn tables that are about 10 foot square with a load capacity
of 100 tons.
2) Vertical Turning Centers, VTCs will have tables that are roughly 80 inch in diameter with a 20 ton table
capacity. X total travel will be about 160 inch and Z will have 80 inches of travel.
3) Minimum of 6-Years in Inside Machine Shop

Required Skills:
1. Familiar with Numerical Controlled Processes, Manual Data Input, Tooling Offsets,
Conversation Controllers, etc.
2. Experience with controllers such as: Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic, Cincinnati-Milacron, etc.
3. Familiar with the use of precision measuring instruments: outside/inside micrometers, depth mics,
verniers, etc.
4. Familiar with threading and the various measuring/gauging requirements
5. Drilling/tapping processes
6. Familiar with carbide machining processes
7. Ability to comprehend complex mechanical drawings and blueprints
8. Machinist or Tool & Die Apprenticeship
