Position Title: QC Technician
Position Reports To: Quality Control Manager, Project Manager
Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for managing and long-term planning of all aspects of quality control and quality assurance. The QC Technician will oversee assigned work according to the plans and schedules. The QC Technician will note any quality control deviations in the work performed, provide comprehensive solutions and inputs to any improvement opportunities. This position is accountable for the guarantee of the work performed as well as meets the project’s contractual requirements set forth by the client.
Essential Functions
Read prints, specifications and both written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties and responsibilities as listed below.
Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.
Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb.
Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time inside confined spaces, often with breathing equipment required.
Comply with all Apache and client safety policies and programs.
Maintain a reliable attendance records
Always maintains a clean and safe work environment
Able to wear all required PPE
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
HS Diploma (equivalent or higher)
Minimum 4-5 years of experience in quality control in the Industrial Construction or related industries
NACE CIP Level 1 (Minimum requirement)
NACE CIP Level III (preferred)
Previous working experience in Plants / Refineries required
Valid driver's license required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possess working knowledge of the standards associated with the testing requirements.
Demonstrated practical and technical knowledge of Apache disciplines with the ability to expertly execute inspection requirements.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
Understanding of QA/QC requirements for final documentation
Ability to meet fast paced, changing schedules and their associated deadlines
Ability to evaluate and implement quality systems and specifications
Develop a sound knowledge of the project scope and requirements
Implement multiple levels of quality control for various trades (Scaffolding, Fireproofing, Insulation, Coatings, etc.)
Prepare project-specific QC plans
Conduct daily field inspections; verify delivered materials comply with approved submittals
Prepare QC punch lists and coordinate punch list completion with subcontractors
Perform preparatory meetings per contract requirements
Understand and Follow ITP – Inspection Test Plan
Competent in Use and Calibration of Day to Day Inspection Equipment
Working Knowledge of Fireproofing and Surface Preparation Standards
Able to supervise and train QC personnel
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Must be able to work in high noise volumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, dusty conditions, hazardous machinery, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
