Shipfitter

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Shipfitter to join our shipyard team. The Shipfitter will be responsible for fitting, aligning, assembling, and tacking structural steel components used in ship construction and repair. This position requires strong blueprint-reading skills, accurate measurements, and the ability to safely and effectively use shipfitting tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Fit, align, assemble, and tack structural steel components for ship construction and repair.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Take accurate measurements and perform proper layout of structural components.
  • Use shipfitting tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure components are properly aligned and positioned prior to welding.
  • Follow all company and shipyard safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of shipyard experience required.
  • Must successfully pass a Fit and Tacking Test.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of structural steel fitting, layout, and fabrication.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements and work with precision.
  • Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding shipyard environment.

Experience: 3+ years of shipyard experience required.

$20/hr

$110 per day
