We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Construction to lead construction operations for a rapidly growing data center development organization. This executive-level position will oversee construction activities across active markets and provide strategic leadership from pre-construction through commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
Based in Shackelford County, Texas, this is a 100% on-site leadership role reporting directly to the Senior Vice President. The VP will work closely alongside two other Vice Presidents of Construction while leading a team of construction professionals responsible for major data center campuses and large-scale capital projects.
The ideal candidate brings extensive data center construction experience, strong knowledge of both CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) construction, and a proven ability to lead complex projects, teams, budgets, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Oversee construction operations across active markets and major data center campuses.
Lead and develop Construction Directors and other construction leadership personnel.
Drive execution through all phases of development, including pre-construction, bidding, contractor selection, construction, commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
Maintain accountability for campus and project CAPEX budgets, forecasts, and financial controls.
Provide executive-level oversight of project schedules, costs, quality, safety, and delivery.
Own resource allocation and project workflow for internal teams and third-party project management resources.
Partner with senior leadership, Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and Development teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Support customer requirements and ensure construction delivery aligns with contractual and lease commitments.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, trade partners, consultants, and vendors.
Review contractor RFPs, major trade bid packages, project authorizations, and master service agreements.
Generate and review project proformas, estimates, forecasts, and cost analyses.
Identify cost drivers, value-engineering opportunities, alternative technologies, and opportunities for cost optimization.
Provide construction estimating and cost guidance during site development and pre-construction.
Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, process optimization, and best-practice implementation.
Work closely with Operations to ensure new construction aligns with long-term facility maintenance and operational requirements.
Produce and present monthly and quarterly construction and financial reporting to executive leadership.
Coach, mentor, and evaluate construction leadership teams while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Provide strategic input into business-level construction and development decisions.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
10–15+ years of construction management leadership experience; 15–20 years preferred.
Extensive data center construction experience is required.
Proven experience leading large-scale, complex construction programs from inception through completion.
Strong experience managing both CSA and MEP construction.
Demonstrated experience overseeing large CAPEX budgets and construction financials.
Strong understanding of construction cost analysis, estimating, forecasting, and value engineering.
Proven ability to lead construction directors and large multidisciplinary teams.
Exceptional project management, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to coordinate effectively across executive leadership, engineering, operations, finance, sales, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Strong understanding of contractor procurement, bidding, contract management, and vendor relationships.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly technical data center development environment.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively, with travel expected to be up to 90% depending on business requirements.
