Newport News, VA | Long-Term Shipyard Opportunity

PMQS is actively seeking experienced First Class Pipefitters for a long-term opportunity at a major shipyard in Newport News, Virginia!

Pay & Position Details

• Pay: $35.00 per hour

• Per Diem: $150 per day for eligible non-local candidates

• Contract Duration: 2 Years

• Location: Newport News, VA

• Shift: Flexibility required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of First Class Pipefitting experience in marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical environments.

• Ability to read and interpret ship piping drawings and fabrication specifications.

• Hands-on experience fitting carbon steel, corrosion-resistant steel (CRES), and copper-nickel piping.

Required Skills & Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit, and assemble piping systems according to drawings and specifications.

• Prepare pipe ends manually or using Wach or Portsmouth machines.

• Install pipe hangers and supports.

• Accurately read measurements in inches and tenths.

• Prepare and fit backing rings for welded connections.

• Cut, clean, and prepare piping using grinders.

• Hand-prepare V-bevels for welding.

• Fabricate piping details and assemblies from technical drawings.

• Bend piping using templates and hand benders.

• Fit welded socket connections.

• Prepare and fit brazed joints with or without insert rings.

Additional Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship REQUIRED

  • Must pass a background check.

  • Must pass a hair follicle drug screening.

  • Must be comfortable working in an industrial shipyard environment.

  • Must be flexible with assigned shifts.
