We are seeking a Mechanical Start-Up Technician to serve as the critical final link in the installation process. This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of advanced technical troubleshooting, refrigeration expertise, and leadership. You will ensure that sophisticated mechanical systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and according to rigorous industry standards.
Technical Execution & Commissioning
System Start-Up: Execute full-cycle start-up for a wide range of HVAC equipment, including AHUs, VFDs, FCUs, Supply/Return/Exhaust Fans, Pump Skids, and Unit Heaters.
Specialized Equipment: Oversee the commissioning of Water Heaters, Humidifiers, and packaged mechanical systems such as Refrigerant Split Systems, Heat Pumps, and CRAH units.
Refrigeration Mastery: Perform expert-level refrigeration installations, evacuations, and system testing in strict compliance with EPA and industry standards.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and control system issues during the initial power-up phase.
Documentation & Compliance
Operational Readiness: Review and comprehend equipment submittals and Installation, Operation, & Maintenance (IOM) manuals to ensure flawless execution.
Quality Control: Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed; report directly to Quality Management to ensure project milestones are met.
Blueprint Proficiency: Read and interpret complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Control drawings/schematics.
Warranty Support: Physically resolve warranty claims and conduct scheduled preventative maintenance as needed.
Leadership & Safety
Field Leadership: Demonstrate coaching and problem-solving skills to guide project teams and develop junior staff.
Safety Excellence: Set a high-level example for job site safety and maintain NFPA 70e compliance.
Coordination: Effectively manage multiple projects, vendor functions, and stakeholder expectations simultaneously.
Required Skills & Experience:
Certification: Current EPA Certification is required.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) for inspecting electrical installations.
Controls Exposure: Experience installing and inspecting various aspects of building control systems.
Physical Requirements: Ability to operate aerial lifts and work in various industrial environments.
Professional Standards:
Reliability: Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
Availability: Flexibility to handle potential weekend work or emergency service calls.
Presentation: Maintain a neat, professional appearance and a well-organized company vehicle and toolset.
Safety First: NFPA 70e certification or training is highly preferred.
