Job Overview

Kodiak is seeking experienced TIG Pipe Welders with a strong background welding carbon steel or stainless steel pipe. Candidates will be tested based on their area of expertise and assigned to work that matches their experience.

Carbon steel TIG welders will test and work with carbon steel pipe, while stainless steel TIG welders will test and work with stainless steel pipe.

As a TIG Pipe Welder, you'll perform high-quality pipe welding in a fabrication shop environment while working from drawings, weld procedures, and project specifications.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform TIG/GTAW welding on carbon steel or stainless steel pipe
• Complete root, fill, and cap welds according to applicable procedures
• Perform proper purge welding when working with stainless steel piping
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and specifications
• Inspect pipe preparation and fit-up prior to welding
• Maintain proper heat control and consistent weld quality
• Identify and correct weld defects as necessary
• Coordinate with pipefitters, supervisors, and quality control personnel
• Follow all shop safety requirements and welding procedures

Requirements

• Professional TIG pipe welding experience required
• Experience TIG welding carbon steel and/or stainless steel pipe
• Strong GTAW/TIG pipe welding skills
• Stainless steel candidates must have experience with proper purge procedures
• Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and specifications
• Knowledge of pipe preparation, fit-up, and welding procedures
• Fabrication shop experience preferred
• Must pass a hands-on weld test for the applicable material
• Reliable attendance and ability to work the full scheduled hours

Weld Test

Candidates will complete a hands-on weld test based on the material they are being considered for:

• Carbon Steel TIG Welder: Carbon steel pipe weld test
• Stainless Steel TIG Welder: Stainless steel pipe weld test

Candidates who successfully pass the weld test will be assigned work corresponding to the material they tested on.

Per Diem Eligibility

Qualified travelers are eligible for $100/day in per diem, paid all 7 days, provided they meet the following requirements:

• Maintain a permanent residence 60+ miles from the shop
• Work the full scheduled hours
• Meet all project requirements necessary to maintain seven-day per diem eligibility
