Marine / Shipyard Project

Tradesmen International is currently seeking an experienced Marine Painter to support vessel construction and repair work in a shipyard environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Project Type: Marine / Shipyard

COMPENSATION

  • $28–$30/hour (depends on level of experience) 
  • $145/day worked per diem

PROJECT SCOPE

The Marine Painter will perform surface preparation, painting, and coating work on construction vessels and vessel repair projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Painting and coating marine vessels using airless and conventional methods
  • Preparing surfaces through sanding and grinding
  • Masking off vessel sections prior to painting
  • Priming and applying marine coatings
  • Operating shop and power tools, including sanders and grinders
  • Applying coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
  • Performing vessel construction and repair-related painting activities
  • Working from ladders or scaffolding and in confined spaces as required

QUALIFICATIONS & SAFETY

  • Previous marine, shipyard, or industrial painting experience preferred
  • Experience with airless and conventional spray-painting methods
  • Experience with surface preparation, sanding, grinding, masking, priming, and coating
  • Must be comfortable working around industrial equipment, noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures
  • Must be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Must be able to safely perform physical job requirements, including prolonged standing/walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, pushing/pulling, and lifting/carrying tools and materials
  • Must be able to meet client fitness-for-duty requirements with no restrictions
