Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking qualified Level II Radiographic Testing (RT) Inspectors to perform nondestructive testing on piping, castings, and structural welds in a shipyard and shipboard environment. The ideal candidate will have current documented qualifications in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A, 2016 Edition, along with the required radiography certifications and hands-on experience performing X-ray and Gamma radiography.
Required Qualifications
- Documented Level II qualification/certification in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A, 2016 Edition
- RT certification and current documentation from an approved entity
- Successful completion of required:
- General written examination
- Specific written examination
- Practical examination
- Demonstrated proficiency performing RT inspections of:
- Piping
- Castings
- Structural welds
- Experience with X-ray and Gamma radiography
- Knowledge of applicable NDT procedures, specifications, codes, and acceptance criteria
- Ability to interpret and apply inspection procedures and customer requirements
- Documentation of training, experience, examinations, certifications, and vision testing for the current and preceding three-year certification period
- Evidence of performing inspections in the applicable method(s) within the previous 9 months
Job Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic inspections of piping, castings, and structural welds.
- Perform X-ray and Gamma radiography in accordance with approved procedures.
- Set up and operate radiographic inspection equipment.
- Follow applicable NDT procedures, codes, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Evaluate radiographic results and identify indications requiring further review.
- Complete required inspection reports and documentation.
- Maintain accurate certification and inspection records.
- Work safely in shipboard, shop, and industrial environments.
- Follow all applicable OSHA, shipyard, radiation safety, and customer requirements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced RT Inspector who:
- Holds current Level II RT qualifications
- Has hands-on X-ray and Gamma radiography experience
- Understands NDT procedures, codes, and acceptance criteria
- Maintains complete and current certification records
- Can work independently while maintaining strict safety and quality standards
- Is comfortable working aboard ships and in confined or elevated areas
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and professional inspection practices
Additional Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must successfully pass a hair follicle drug test.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position in a shipbuilding environment.
