Advance Shipfitters
Four or more years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class Shipfitter.
MUST BE ABLE TO PASS a Hair Follicle Drug Test
MUST BE A US CITIZEN
MUST Pass a 10-year Background Check
MUST have at least 5 years of welding or shipfitting in the shipyard
Required Skills
- Multi-Pass Tack Welding:
- Utilization of the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Process.
- Application of MIL-10718-M (A-5A) Filler Metal of MIL-E-22200/1.
- Execution in both the Vertical Up (3F) and Overhead (4F) positions.
- Burning: Proficiency with Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch.
- Heating: Proficiency with Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.
- Comprehension: Ability to understand complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines.
- Measurement: Ability to comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler.
- Layout: Ability to lay out piece parts for fabrication and assembly.
- Assembly: Ability to assemble structural parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner.
- Physical Demands: Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, etc.).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry.
- Tool Usage: Proficiency in using vibratory tools (grinders and needle guns).
- Gouging: Proficiency in Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
- Work Planning: Ability to utilize Work Packages and Drawings to plan and execute work.
- Execution: Ability to use Molded Lines and Ship Reference Lines to execute required work.
- Complex Assembly: Ability to Erect, Set, and Make-up Complex-shaped Shell Plates.
- Structural Assembly: Ability to Erect, Set, and Make Up Decks, Bulkheads, Longitudinals, trunks, etc.
- Installation: Ability to install and Replace Hull Inserts and Penetrations, as well as Install Miscellaneous and Complex Foundations.
